The theory is to confine a circular shape of elastic rubber in a steel pot. By using a special design piston, dead load and live load can be taken and transferred, as well as fixed-type or movable-type of bearing can be achieved. Due to the property of elastomer eccentric can be controlled to be within 3% when external force is applied and/or rotation occur. This is because there is no need to consider the volume deceasing of an elastomer and it can react to external force like liquid. The cost of a Pot Barings is lower than other kinds of bearings. Cost of a Pot Bearing is only about half of a cast steel bearing, or rolling bearing, or other mechanical bearings. An easy installation of Pot Bearing will not create out-looking problem of a bridge. A Pot Bearing reacts to pressure like liquid, it can effectively distribute loading evenly. As a result, eccentric of a pot bearing can be controlled to a limit which a dish type bearing can not achieve and surrounding structure can be protected. Unlike rubber bearing, distortion, creep, and fatigue will not happen to a pot bearing. A pot bearing has a long service life and is safe. Our design is in accordance with SBS-1010 Norm, AASHTO Standard, and ASTM specifications. Materials used are: Steel ASTM A572 and A709 Elastomer AASHTO 18.2.3.1A/1B, with hardness = 60, maximum surface pressure 3,500 psi Teflon (PTFE) AASHTO 18.8.1.2 / 18.8.1.5, with thickness 1/8 inch and imbed 1/16 inch Stainless Steel ASTM A240 type 304 with thickness at least 1.5 mm Material quality certificate and product test report will be provided. Type of Pot Bearings Basically there are three kinds of pot bearings: Fixed Bearing, Non-guided Expansion Bearing, and Guided Expansion Bearing. Each bearing is designed in accordance with the specifications and requirements provided by our clients.
